Science G4 Summary - Semester 1 (Updated)

Matter is anything that takes up space and has mass. Science is s search for the laws of nature and for ways to use them for the benefit of mankind. Scientist is the name of a person who spends his/her time trying to learn about the things God made. Four way how do scientist learn: 1. They observe; 2. Gather information and try to think clearly; 3. They try to make sensible guesses, or hypotheses; 4. They test their hypothesis with experiments to see whether they are correct. Observation means looking carefully at something

Vertebrate is animals with backbones. Invertebrate is animals without backbones. Exoskeleton is the external skeleton. When an insect outgrows its exoskeleton and grows a new exoskeleton under the old one and crawls out of the old skeleton called moulting. All the 3 body part of insect: head, thorax, and abdomen. Scientist call a caterpillar is larva. Some other differences between butterflies and moths: Moths have a stout body, while butterflies have a slender body. A metamorphosis is a change in form. Four stages of complete metamorphosis start from egg, larvae, pupa, adult. The state of law of biogenesis is life can only come from other life.

Hypothesis is a reasonable or sensible explanation of something based on observation of that thing. Experiment is a planned way to test a hypothesis. Camouflage is a disguise that causes people or animals to blend in with their surroundings. When a harmless animal looks like a harmful one it's called mimicry. 5 way that insects communicate: sight, smell, touch, dancing, sound. Photosynthesis is the process by which green plants use the energy of sunlight to change water and carbon dioxide into sugars to make food. 

Chlorophyll is the green coloring matter that green plants use to manufacture their own food. The part of the flower are: petal, sepal, stamen, and  pistil. The 3 main part of a seed are: embryo, seed coat and stored food (cotyledon). Three things must seed have in order to germinate are: water, oxygen, and the right temperature. The life-saving antibiotic is produced from a green mold-penicillin. The poison found in tobacco plant is nicotine

To move from one place to another with the change of seasons called migrate. The bird's voice box called syrinx. (Final result experiment picture, a simple paper rocket project). in order to fly high, you must use rubber band.

G4 Bible Summary - 1st Semester

1. Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace

2. God’s Word is real and factual. It is truth.

3. The Bible sets the standard for a Christian’s faith and behavior.

4. God’s Word equips Christians to know who God is, what He is like, and how to do His will.

5. The Bible reveals God’s truth. It provides guidance and direction for Christians.

6. The fact that the Bible is God’s Word is proven by the fulfillment of prophecy, because people cannot accurately predict the future.

7. Godly wisdom is the ability to make good decisions. These decisions are based on God’s truth.

8. People who place their trust in God and believe His Word show that they have faith in the Lord.

9. Knowing and trusting the truth of God’s Word helps Christians take action that affects their life and the lives of those around them.

10. Inspired by God means to be influenced or guided by God   

11. God’s omnipresence is God’s ability to be everywhere at the same time.

12. The eternal nature of God is that He has always been and always will be.

13. God is not only everywhere at once, but He is also actively involved in the lives of His people.

14. God’s presence offers comfort during lonely times. 

15. Those who accept Jesus as their Savior never need to worry about being alone. God is always with them and will never leave them.

16. Because God is omnipresent, it is impossible to hide from Him or to be truly alone.

17. Who is omniscient? Jesus

18. In Revelation 1:8, Jesus says that He is the Alpha and the Omega. What does this mean? He is the Beginning and the End. He always was, and He always will be. He is eternal.

19. Omnipresent means always present everywhere. 

20. Omniscient means all-knowing.

21. Omnipotent means all-power.

22. What does Trinity mean? three in one: one God who exists in three Persons.

23. What does the word triune mean? three in one

24. God is omnipotent, He is able to create people in His image.

25. Sin has consequences. Consequences, the results of an action or a decision.

26. The Bible was written by John: The Gospel of John, 1 John, 2 John, 3 John, and Revelation. 

27. The Gospel book written by Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. 

28. In the Bible, a sacrifice is something costly that is offered as a gift.

29. During the Passover, the Hebrews had to choose a lamb or goat that was  without fault or defect.

30. The one and only way to receive forgiveness for the penalty of sin is through faith in Jesus Christ.

31. Christians receive salvation by grace through faith.

32. The book of Hebrews contains the Hall of Faith.'

33. Faith is belief and trust.

34. The name Jesus means God is salvation.

35. The name Immanuel means God with us.

36. Luke 2:11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

37. Where in the Bible do we read about the Birth of Jesus? In Luke Chapter 2.

38. Which city did Mary and Joseph travel to for the census? Bethlehem.

39. The wise men / Magi followed a star to find baby Jesus.

40. What message did Mary and Joseph receive from the angel? Mary would have a baby who would be the Son of God.
