Science Summary 2nd Semester for Grade1

Summary for Science Grade 1, Semester II: Page: 80 - 129

An insect is an Animal.
All insects has only six legs. Spider has eight legs, it’s not an insect.
The insects give us honey is honey bee.
Caterpillar is the insects who give us silk.

Discovering Myself
My teacher teaches very well. I am using my ear to listen my teacher. When you are listening your mom calls you, you can hear it because the air makes my eardrum shake. Your mother just made a chocolate cake. You did not see it, but you can know it. How do you know? You can saiy, “My nose told me!
God gave us tongue. He put taste buds on my tongue. Can you tell what the taste for french fries is? The tase is salty. Lemons are very sour.  I also need my tongue to help me to speak.
God gave me five senses.  Eye for sigth, ear for hearing, nose for smelling, togue for tasting and skin for feel.

Discovering My Toys
The water keeps the boat moving. Air, wind and even wheels make the toys fun. Magnet can pull up needle, paper clip and scissors.

Discovering Animals
Each kind of animal is different. Do animal go to school? No, they are not. God teaches them the things they need to know.  God gave each animal instincts that they can learn things.
Kitten will always grow up to a cat. Puppies will always grow up to be a dog.
Baby kangaroos and opossums live in a pouch.
Some animals hatch from eggs. Like a frog. Frog hatch from egg, and they turn in to a tadpole, and adult frog. A turtle is very slow. Turtle’s shell protects him. A water turtle has webbed feet or flippers.
Animals that are born drink milk from their mother. And their motherwill look after them. A duck loves to swim. An oil sac keeps the duck dry. A duck eats with his bill.
In our skin there is: root, muscle, follicle, oil gland, hair, and blood vessels.
Could the owl live with his feet like webbed feet? No he can not live. Why not? Because the owl can not catch his prey to eat.

"Discovering My Toys" (DGW, page 33-39)

There is four lessons that students studying in this week.
They figure out how water makes water toy moving and float, and the air is what makes the ball, and balloon became fun toys. The balloon can float because of the wind. Remember, wind is moving air!
http://www.hometrainingtools.com/media/images/art/RocketSEHeader.jpg    The students also do their fun experiment: "Make a balloon jet" base on page 38. They use a balloon from mr. Wesly, and they blow up the balloon. The balloon was fulled with air. When the students let go, the air rushed out. It pushed the balloon the opposite way. A jet plane works this way too, but it uses very hot gasses.

I Am Me!

God made everyone difference.
God made every person one of a kind. No two people are exactly alike. Even identical twins have uniquely different fingerprints. God made you different from everyone else. I'm glad I'm me. Aren't you glad you're you?

Science G1, first semester.
Second week on August, 2015.

"Skin"

Anatomical Structures of Human Skin

Our skin warms and cools us. God gave our skin many wonderful jobs to keep us well and strong. In our skin, there has thousands of tiny holes, its called pores. We have to take care our own skin. Wash our hand, or even take a bath.

Our Tongue

We are still talk about our nose, and the hole in our nose called "Nostril" for review. And, we discover how sound travels.

Today, we learn about your tongue. Your tongue help you to speak.
God put taste buds on our tongue. We can taste sweet, salty, sour, and bitter. Check here the other article on this blog about taste buds.

"Discovering Myself" - hair, eyes, and ear

Every hair has pigment. How many hairs do we have? No one knows that but God.

Your eyes are one of God's wonderful gifts to me. The bones of our head are called the skull. The skull helps to keeps to keeps things from hitting our eyes.

Our eyelids close to keep dirt and other things from getting into my eyes. Our eyelashes keep most dust from getting into our eyes.

Ears are another one of God's wonderful gifts to me. You can hear clock rings, the school bus beeps its horn, your mother calls and Mr. Wesly taught you. Sound makes the air shake. The air makes our eardrum shake.
