Bible G5 - Second Semester Summary

Sin has consequences. Consequences are the results of an action or a decision. People are basically sinful. God’s judgment is always righteous. King David’s sin led to another sin. Peter’s sin caused him to feel guilty. After Jesus forgave Peter for denying Him, Jesus restored Peter. Christians should practice prayer and thanksgiving to develop a godly habit.

The Person of the Trinity is called the Word in the New Testament is Jesus. The name Jesus means God is salvation. The name Immanuel means God with us. The title Mighty God means Omnipotent God. Jesus never gave in to Satan’s temptations and never sinned. So His death on the cross provided salvation for people. The term that means God in the flesh is God Incarnate. The one and only way to receive forgiveness for the penalty of sin is through faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus provided freedom from sin for all people when He paid the penalty for their sins.

In the Bible, a sacrifice is something costly that is offered as a gift. During the Passover, the Hebrews had to choose a lamb or goat that was without fault or defect. The Hebrews put the lamb’s blood on their door-frame so death would pass over their house.

Isaiah is best known as the Messianic Prophet because he prophesied over 25 prophecies dealing with the life of the Messiah. Isaiah was primarily a prophet in Judah.

Rehoboam tore the kingdom apart by his poor leadership. Absalom attempted to take over the throne by fighting a battle against his father, King David. Absalom stealing Israel’s devotion to King David and ultimately their devotion to God.

Ahab and Jezebel worship Baal. Because of his sins, Elijah tell Ahab: There would be no rain.  During the time of King Ahab, people who refused to worship Baal were persecuted or driven out of the country. The prophet Elijah warned the people there would be no rain. God gave Elijah food and rest before he gently restored him. When the brook dried up, Elijah went to widow’s home.

False religions teach that salvation comes through good works, good people, other gods, or a set of standards.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved Act 4:12.

The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;   my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,  my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. Psalm 18:2.

"Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6
